Gillian graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1996 and then worked in an NHS general practice before moving in turn to Glasgow Dental Hospital, Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and St John's Hospital at Livingston. She became one of the first two Surgical Dentistry specialist registrars in the country and completed her specialist training program in 2003, simultaneously obtaining a Master of Science degree from the University of Edinburgh.  The GDC merged the Surgical Dentistry and Oral Surgery specialist lists and Gillian spent nine years at Glasgow Dental Hospital performing and teaching Oral Surgery under local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation to undergraduates and newly qualified dentists. Gillian has been at EDS since 2011 and has developed a particular interest in implant placement and gingival plastic surgical techniques in the aesthetic zone. She continues to ease the management of nervous patients by providing conscious sedation. 

Gillian is a specialist in Oral Surgery and a member of the British Dental Association, Association of Dental Implantology and the British Association of Oral Surgeons.
