Dr Christopher Millen is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the Edinburgh Dental Institute. His main NHS focus is the oral rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients using complex prosthodontic and implant techniques. At the Dental Institute he teaches postgraduate trainees and is the Training Programme Director for future specialists in restorative dentistry in the South East of Scotland. His interests lie in all aspects of restorative dentistry, focusing on prosthodontics (replacement of missing teeth), periodontics (gums and tissues surrounding the teeth) and implantology.
He completed his specialist training in Edinburgh, during which time he was awarded a year-long scholarship by the International Team for Implantology (ITI) to study and work in Bern, Switzerland. During this time, Dr Millen worked closely with some of the most renowned practitioners in dental implantology in the world. He has published several scientific articles in internationally peer-reviewed journals and supervises Masters level research at the Dental Institute. He is a registered speaker and Fellow of the ITI.
As well as the ITI, Dr Millen is a member of the British Society of Prosthodontics, the British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, the Royal Odontochirugical Society of Scotland and the British Society of Restorative Dentistry.
