Complete Dentures

The process of denture fabrication, and hence the costs and time taken will depend on the problems you have and what you are wishing to achieve.

Options available include:

Our dentures really suck!

The video shows just how much suction can be achieved with a lower denture using the "suction effect" design and fabrication process employed for new customised dentures.

  1. Fabrication of new customised dentures for the best fit, function and appearance

Expectation = to achieve the optimal fit of both the upper and lower dentures such that you are able to use them effectively for eating and they don't move or fall when talking and socialising. To design and make strong life-like dentures that return your confidence to smile and laugh.

Limitations = the degree to which the fit and support can be improved will vary depending on loss of bone which has occurred, the condition of the remaining gum tissue and the skill of the denture wearer.

In all denture situations a consultation with a specialist prosthodontist is essential in order to be assessed and advised what can and what cannot be achieved. Be assured that we will work with you to achieve the best that can be achieved in your situation.

Using our specialist techniques it is possible to achieve a great fit and suction not only for the upper denture but also the lower.

Unlike conventional techniques, our Complete Customised Denture service prescribes many hours of craftsmanship during which time, we will accurately record not only the exact shape of your mouth and all the muscles and gum tissue responsible for securing the dentures, but also the way in which your jaw joints uniquely move in order to find the best position for denture stability.

To achieve the most natural appearance and perfect speech, each tooth is chosen and positioned to conform with your natural symmetry and aesthetic goals. Prior to beginning treatment, as much information as possible is sought not only on your previous denture experiences (good and bad) but also those aspects of your natural dentition which you would like to reproduce. All complete dentures are fabricated using the latest injection moulded resins which produce a very accurately fitting denture base, requiring less adjustments and offering the greatest strength.

  2. Fabrication of new complete dentures to replace failing teeth

Expectation = to replace teeth with a removable alternative on the day they are removed to, as far as possible, maintain appearance and facial support

Solution = immediate dentures, these are carefully crafted by Bruce and Sean using study models of your mouth before the teeth are removed (with any additional information you give us). On the day the teeth are removed and the dentures fitted we can line them with a very accurate, comfortable, material to give the best fit.

Limitation = your mouth changes shape rapidly over the 2-3 months after the teeth have been removed. Additional linings will be necessary as the dentures loosen and, ultimately, after your mouth has healed fully, a definitive (final) set of customised dentures is made to give the best, fit, function and appearance. These should last for many years, additional linings may be required if your mouth continues to change shape, although this should become less frequent.

  3. Replace old worn out dentures which otherwise work well

Expectation = better looking, strong dentures, add to facial support

Solution = copy technique with personalised cosmetic design

Limitation = fit and function is not being significantly changed
