The Practice

Edinburgh Dental Specialists in Scotland, originally opened in 1994 as a private dental practice called West End Private Dental Practice. We are situated at the West End of Rose Street, in a prime city centre location in the heart of historic Edinburgh.

The innovative concept of this brand new, custom built practice in 1994, was to offer comprehensive multi-disciplinary private dental care. Over the years, the reputation of the practice and the skills of the internationally renowned specialists have created exiting opportunities for expansion.

The practice became limited to the provision of cosmetic, implant and restorative dentistry in 1997, with the second surgery being equipped as a surgical suite for the placement of dental implants. In 1998 we were runners up and received a commendation in the Scottish business and Excellence awards.

In 2002 we committed fully to our goal of becoming Scotlands first multi-disciplinary specialist centre and limited ourselves to only treating patients referred to the practice by local practitioners. We have since evolved into a large multi-floored premises encompassing our original location. Our first floor accomodates 5 clinical suites, a digital radiography and dental CT scanning facility, consulting rooms and our spacious and welcoming lounge area.

Our second level comprises of our conference and teaching centre. This facility allows us to share our expertise with colleagues in the dental profession and is an ideal, central location from which we have been running many and varied training courses for dentists and dental nurses over the last 10 years.

The third level houses our unique dental laboratory where our team of specialist dental technologists hand craft crowns, veneers, dentures, bridges and implant-supported restorations.

Our Service

All our specialists and support staff care passionately about providing the very best service for patients referred to them. Our underlying principle is to treat people, as we would like to be treated and where possible to 'go-the-extra- mile'.

We truly believe in providing the very best service we can to referring practitioners. In our view this means:

  1. Offering your patients an appointment time within 48hrs of receiving a referral letter, we are happy to accommodate patients as emergencies if required.
  2. Keeping you informed about your patients progress.
  3. Making the referral process as simple as possible, from on line referral forms to offering free initial consultations. (see the patient journey and making a referral)
  4. Being approachable: all the specialists are more that happy to discuss patients referred to them, before during or after treatment. We are pleased to discuss treatment rationales and modify treatment, if appropriate to your maintenance plans.
  5. Building professional relationships with referring practitioners: We regularly run postgraduate meetings with a view to meeting referring practitioners. Our round table evenings allow informal conversation on current topics, meeting the specialists at the practice and collecting CDP hours.
  6. Altering our service to suit you: If you feel there is anything that we could be doing better in any area then please do let us know Weekly team meetings allow us to continually improve the way in which we deliver our care to you. We welcome and encourage your comments in order to keep improving.
