Dr Neil Heath

Dr Heath currently works as a consultant at Glasgow Dental Hospital specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging. This involves helping clinicians with investigations and reports on images obtained with conventional radiographs,CT,MRI and ultrasound scans particularly of the dental and extra-cranial head and neck region.
His particular interest is in salivary gland disorders where the use of sialography and some of the techniques just mentioned can be
utilised to not only diagnose but allow planning so that radiological interventive treatment to be offered to some patients. Dr Heath has a background in radiography,dentistry and has completed a 4 year specialist training program in Newcastle where he worked in medical and dental xray departments in order satisfy the Royal College of Radiologists examinations board which then allowed an be appointment to this dental specialty in 2007.
He has experience in undegraduate and post graduate teaching. As a visiting lecturer he is invited to teach at the University of Hasselt in Belgium annually.He has just returned from a lecture tour of Libya where he was privilaged to help post graduate dentists prepare for their royal college examinations there. Current regular lecturing venues include the Edinburgh Dental Institute, the Newcastle Oral and Maxillofacial Course.
At the Edinburgh Dental specialist Practice in Rose Street, Dr Heath acts in a consulting capacity to report on images especially those obtained on the state of the art Cone Beam CT scanner, on request.
