Dr’s Bain and Coli, have multiple specialist registrations. Both are registered as specialists prosthodontics and in periodontics. Their restorative background allows them to manage complex perio- restorative cases just as adeptly as stand alone periodontal cases. Dr Coli has spent 10yrs working in the world famous Branemark clinic in Sweden with some of the most respected clinicians in the field of implant dentistry. Dr’s Bain and Coli have respected academic research backgrounds the knowledge from which they bring to our specialist centre for the benefit of you and your patients. If you wish to discuss a particular case prior to referring then please do call and ask to speak to either clinician. Dental Hygienist and Oral Health Consultant Our dental hygienist Ms Moira Melville has been working under Dr Bain’s instruction for over 10years and provides the necessary skills to carry out maintenance for periodontal patients. Due to the nature of periodontal diseases we would anticipate most periodontal patients to require a minimum of 1hr maintenance appointments four times a year. Integral to the maintenace are review appointments with the periodontist at which time the indices are reviewed and any long term plan adjusted as necessary. We accept that many practices have their own hygienist. If your hygienist has had the required training to manage maintenance of chronic cases and to produce the required indices then please let the periodontist know with your initial referral. Critical to people complying with the recommended home and surgery maintenance schedules is presentation of the necessary information, together with practical demonstration where required. We achieve this through employment of an Oral Health Consultant – Mrs L.Hutchison. Mrs Hutchison has been with the practice for 14 years and is a qualified dental nurse, oral health instructor and dental radiographer. Mrs Hutchison has been the head Dental Nurse Trainer at Edinburgh’s Telford College for 8 years. Mrs Hutchison’s skills are in being able to communicate in a professional manner the home care maintenance required for each situation. We feel so strongly about this aspect of our service that Mrs Hutchisons appointments are provided free of charge to all periodontal and restorative patients. Dental Hygienist Referrals Both our dental hygienist and Oral Health Consultant are available for direct referral. Your referral should include a prescription on the treatment you would like your patient to receive. A follow up letter will be sent to you, reviewing any appointments and explaining the treatment carried out as well as providing a copy of any indices taken. |
